Storm took full advantage of the roads & bridges built by Robert Moses that appear in this reel. She had a summer place upstate and friends & family as well, and she also managed to film the 1937 Chinese Boycott March.

Abstract:
Ruth Storm's New York included upstate where she and her close friend Mabel Griffin grew up and she owned a cabin, the Bronx where she & Mabel taught, Yonkers where she lived for many years, New City where Mabel lived, Manhattan where Ruth had attended Normal School, along with the bridges and roads connecting these places, many, like the 1939 World's Fair and Jones Beach, were spearheaded by Robert Moses. In fact, one way to read much of Storm's work is as a documentation of the ways Moses -- also 1888-1981 -- changed New York. Kate Horsfield has observed that "New York inspired Storm to use her camera in a formal and impersonal way."
