DC Museums #2

Home movie of a visit to the National Mall and nearby museums in Washington, D.C. Museums and landmarks depicted include: the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian Institution Building (“The Castle”), the triceratops statue Uncle Beazley (before its move to the National Zoo in 1994), the Hirshhorn Museum, the National Gallery of Art (and its interior), and the United States Capitol. Protestors in support of preserving the Rhodes’ Tavern (demolished in 1984) are briefly seen. Given that JoAnn Elam herself frequently appears in the footage (with dark hair and wearing a light sweater), at least portions of this film were shot by someone else, likely during the same visit to D.C. as “DC ’82 Home” (F.2011-01-0082).
