Biographical/Historical Notes:
Margaret Cram, an independent filmmaker connected with the Amateur Theatre Guild, arranged Movie Queen events in a still unknown number of towns in the mid-1930s. In each town traveling players helped to put on a stage show, and a film was made with local people. In Bar Harbor, Mrs. Percy Sleeper played the part of the movie queen. A script of "Movie Queen" by Lauren K. Woods and associated production documents from the Amateur Theatre Guild may be found in the Marion Angeline Howlett Papers, Harvard Theatre Collection, Harvard University.
